Philosophy
It has been said, “When we depend upon organizations, we get what organizations can do; when we depend upon education, we get what education can do; when we depend upon man, we get what man can do; but when we depend upon God, we get what God can do.” Our philosophy at Mineral Springs is to grow more and more dependent on God. We believe that God is glorified when we stop striving to accomplish things that we are unable to do and trust Him to do His work.
We believe that our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him. A passion for the glory of God and the exaltation of Jesus Christ is the church’s first concern if we are to please God. To have a growing church is good; to have a church full of pleased people may be desirable, but the church belongs to God, and the point of our existence is to please or glorify HIM! A healthy church will be an effective church and will be naturally reproducing. Mineral Springs desires to be a healthy church. A healthy church is one that has a passion for the glory of God at the forefront of all they are and do.
To accomplish this purpose we believe that preaching the gospel and praying with faith and waiting upon God are the primary activities that we should be involved in. Discipleship, evangelism and missions naturally grow out of these primary activities. In fact there can be no missionary vision without evangelistic zeal; there can be no evangelistic zeal without godliness and growth; there can be no godliness and growth without a genuine conversion experience; and there will be no significant lasting conversions to Christ without sound doctrine.
Commitment to the Gospel
Before you can be committed to something you must understand it. The gospel is clearly presented in the Bible. The gospel is the message that God is our holy Creator and righteous Judge. He created us to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever, but we have sinned, both in Adam and in our own individual actions. We therefore deserve death (spiritual separation from God in hell), we are helpless in this sinful condition and we need God to give spiritual salvation to us. God sent His Son Jesus who lived a sinless life and died a substitutionary death and was raised from the dead for our justification. If we are to have Christ’s perfect righteousness credited to us, and the penalty of our sins accounted to Him we must turn from our sins and believe this message concerning Jesus and salvation. We believe that this core message is essential to every church! Faithfulness to the gospel is the measure of our success not numbers, etc.
In addition to our commitment to the gospel we are also deeply committed to the Bible and the God of the Scriptures and all that is taught therein. A brief summary of our doctrinal beliefs are as follows:
-The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
-God is Sovereign Lord and Creator.
-God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, perfectly co-eternal and co-equal.
-Man is sinful and under the just judgment of God.
-Salvation is the work of God by the redemptive life and death of Jesus Christ.
-Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone.
-God is building His kingdom through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and the preaching of the gospel.
-Jesus Christ is coming again in glory and power to judge and reward.
-The saved shall spend eternity in heaven and the lost shall spend eternity in hell.

Church Life
Church life at Mineral Springs is not complex. What Christ demands in the Scriptures we believe we should demand from ourselves. What is not demanded in the Scriptures we avoid demanding. The functions of the church define our church life. Webster’s Dictionary defines function as the acts or operations of a person or thing. The Book of Acts presents a clear picture of the church life that is pleasing to God and it includes the following seven functions: worship, prayer, fellowship, discipleship, service, giving, and evangelism. These define our church life.
